Attachments are the difference between a gun that merely works and one that wins fights. This guide explains every Free Fire gun attachment: what it does, which weapons use it, how to choose between options, and the exact setups worth looting for. It applies to both Free Fire and Free Fire MAX.

How Free Fire Attachments Work
- Six types, limited slots. A gun only accepts the types it has slots for. Shotguns and most pistols have very few.
- Weapon-class based. In most cases an attachment fits a whole weapon class, so you don’t need a separate set per gun.
- Attachments carry value, not damage. They change range, recoil, reload speed, visibility and stealth. They don’t make a weak gun strong, they make a good gun consistent.
- Swap on the fly. You can move attachments between guns of the same class when you find a better weapon.
Muzzle in Free Fire
In real life a muzzle device controls recoil. In Free Fire it extends the distance at which your bullets keep full effectiveness. A higher level means more reach, so always equip the largest muzzle you find on any gun you plan to fight with beyond close range.
Muzzle is the best choice when you hold angles, fight across open fields, or play a marksman-style rifle. Older guides list guns like AN94, XM8, FAL and Woodpecker as strong muzzle candidates, but always check the current slot list in-game.
Silencer in Free Fire
A silencer removes the firing indicators that tell far-away enemies where you are. It adds no damage, so it is a positioning tool. Because it shares the muzzle slot, you are choosing between range and stealth.
Scopes in Free Fire: Low Zoom, 2x, 4x, 8x and Thermal
The scope decides how well you see and track enemies. Pick it by the distance you usually fight at, then adjust your sensitivity for that zoom level.
| Scope | Range | Best use | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low zoom / red-dot style | Close | SMG and shotgun rushes, fast target pickup | Little help at distance |
| 2x | Close to mid | All-round rifle and SMG play | Weak for long snipes |
| 4x | Mid to long | Assault rifles and marksman guns in ranked | Slower tracking up close |
| 8x | Long | Snipers and bolt-action guns | Narrow view, easy to flank |
| Thermal | Mid to long | Spotting enemies behind cover and in bushes | Not always available |
Magazines in Free Fire
Magazine attachments raise ammo capacity and cut reload time. Every reload is a window for the enemy to push you, so high-fire-rate guns benefit most. On an SMG or LMG a top-level magazine can mean finishing a fight without ever reloading.
- SMGs and LMGs: always equip the highest level.
- Assault rifles: worth it, but after scope and muzzle.
- Shotguns: a quick-reload option helps in close fights where every shell counts.
Foregrips in Free Fire
Hold the fire button in Free Fire and your bullets gradually spread wider. A foregrip slows that spread, which makes long sprays easier to land. Its bonus stacks with the stock, so a gun with both is noticeably steadier than one with neither.
Use it on SMGs, assault rifles and LMGs. It does very little for single-shot or pump weapons.
Stock in Free Fire
The stock is a stabiliser. It reduces recoil and improves your movement speed while the gun is in your hands, which helps both strafing duels and rotations. Not every gun accepts a stock, so look at the slots before you commit.
Best Attachments by Gun Type
| Gun type | Get first | Then | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assault rifles | 4x scope, muzzle | Foregrip, magazine, stock | Range plus controllable sprays |
| SMGs | Magazine, low zoom or 2x | Stock, foregrip | Sustained close-range fire and mobility |
| Shotguns | Stock | Quick-reload magazine if available | Recoil control and faster follow-up shots |
| Snipers | 8x scope, muzzle | Silencer (optional) | Range first, stealth second |
| LMGs | Highest magazine | Foregrip, 2x or 4x scope | Long bursts without reloading |
| Pistols | Magazine (if slot exists) | Whatever else fits | Backup weapon only |

Attachments by Game Mode
| Mode | What matters most | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Royale | Scope variety, muzzle, magazine | Carry one close-range and one long-range gun and loot attachments for both. |
| Clash Squad | Fast, ready-to-use loadouts | Pick guns whose attachments you already know how to control. |
| Ranked | Consistency | Stay with 2x and 4x scopes and practise their sensitivity. |
Loot Priority and Auto Pickup
Turn on auto pickup in settings so attachments are collected as you run over them. When you can’t carry everything, loot in this order:
- Scope that matches your main gun’s range.
- Magazine (highest level available).
- Muzzle (or silencer if you play stealth).
- Foregrip and stock for control.
Free Fire vs Free Fire MAX Attachments
The attachment system works the same in both versions. Free Fire MAX mainly improves graphics and effects, so every tip in this guide applies to both. Visual differences may make some attachments easier to spot on the ground.
Common Attachment Mistakes
- Using an 8x scope on an SMG during close fights.
- Equipping a silencer when you actually need range.
- Ignoring stock and foregrip, which stack and make sprays much easier.
- Assuming a slot exists without checking the weapon details screen.
- Using one sensitivity value for every scope.
- Picking up low-level magazines when a better one is nearby.
Free Fire Attachments FAQ
How many attachments are there in Free Fire?
Six types: muzzle, silencer, scope, magazine, foregrip and stock. Not every gun supports all six.
What does a muzzle do in Free Fire?
It increases the weapon’s effective range in three levels: small, medium and large.
What is the best scope in Free Fire?
It depends on range. Low zoom or 2x suit close fights, 4x suits mid range, 8x suits long range and thermal helps spot enemies in cover.
Does a silencer reduce damage?
No. It hides shot sound and muzzle flash from distant enemies. It is for stealth only and shares the muzzle slot.
What is the best attachment for recoil?
Foregrip and stock. Their bonuses stack, so use both on automatic guns when slots allow.
Which attachment should I loot first?
A scope that matches your gun, then a magazine, then a muzzle, then foregrip and stock.
Is there auto pickup for attachments?
Yes. Enable the auto-pickup option in settings to collect attachments as you run over them.
Are attachments the same in Free Fire and Free Fire MAX?
Yes. The system is the same, MAX mainly differs in graphics.
Final Thoughts
Treat attachments as part of your loadout, not an afterthought. Choose one range option (muzzle or silencer), a scope that fits your fights, a magazine, and stack foregrip plus stock for control. Re-check slots after every update, and practise each setup in training mode before ranked. For more guides and utilities, visit our Free Fire tools.
